I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!
I'll be taking on a challenge of walking 99 kilometres in a month to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies. Every euro raised gives the gift of a second chance to our furry friends in Dogs Trust Ireland's care - thank you for your support!
The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.

99K for Canines – Trim Castle Walk
Friday 8th Aug
Yesterday, we decided to switch things up and take our 99K for Canines walk a bit further afield. Instead of our usual routes around Westmeath, we headed to Trim Castle in County Meath for a change of scenery.
The walk didn’t disappoint—peaceful paths along the River Boyne, a loop around the castle, through Sheep’s Gate, and even a surprise encounter with a few donkeys! The area’s full of open fields and trails that are perfect for stretching your legs (and your dog’s). We passed plenty of fellow dog walkers too—great to see so many out supporting the cause.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Braveheart being filmed at the castle, which added a nostalgic touch to the day. I still remember standing on the bridge watching them shoot scenes all those years ago. Maybe you were there too?
We’re clocking up the kilometres every day and love crossing paths with other fundraisers. If you spot us out and about, say hello—and if you can, please support the campaign. Every euro helps make life a little better for dogs in need.
