I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!
I'll be taking on a challenge of walking 99 kilometres in a month to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies. Every euro raised gives the gift of a second chance to our furry friends in Dogs Trust Ireland's care - thank you for your support!
The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.

Paws for a cause: Sparky and Ted’s 99k for dogs trust
Monday 17th AugI’ve decided to take on a sponsored dog walk with my two wonderful dogs, Sparky and Ted, for a reason that is very close to my heart: adoption.
Both Sparky and Ted are adopted dogs, and I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without them. They have brought so much happiness, love, laughter and companionship into my life, and I want to use our sponsored walk as an opportunity to shine a light on just how wonderful it can be to give a rescue dog a second chance.
Adopting a dog is such a special thing. You’re not just bringing a pet home — you’re giving a dog the opportunity to feel safe, loved and part of a family. And in return, they can give you so much more than you ever expected.
Sparky and Ted are two very different personalities, but they have both shown me in their own ways just how much love an adopted dog has to give. Every walk, every cuddle, every silly moment and every wagging tail reminds me how lucky I am to have them.
That’s why this walk means more to me than simply raising money. I want to celebrate adopted dogs and encourage people to consider adoption when they’re thinking about adding a dog to their family.
There are so many dogs out there waiting for someone to give them a chance. They all deserve the opportunity to find their person, their home and their happily-ever-after.
So, Sparky, Ted and I will be putting our paws to the pavement and walking for a cause that we believe in. 🐾
Every step will be a little reminder of what adoption can mean: a second chance, a new beginning and, ultimately, a whole lot of love.
If our story inspires even one person to consider adopting rather than buying, then every step will be worth it.
Here’s to Sparky and Ted — two dogs who have given me far more than I could ever give them. ❤️🐾
And if you’d like to support us on our walk, every donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to us.
Because sometimes, the greatest gift you can give a dog is a home — and sometimes, the greatest gift a dog can give you is themselves.
