99k for Canines November

I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!

I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!

I'll be taking on a challenge of walking 99 kilometres in a month to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies. Every euro raised gives the gift of a second chance to our furry friends in Dogs Trust Ireland's care - thank you for your support!

The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.

Mission accomplished!

Friday 29th Nov
We complete the challenge and as you've all been so generous we did some extra kilometers on top, and because there is no stopping this dog who is now a bonofide athlete!
Rest assured the dogs trust will put all your donations to good work, caring for, rehabing and rehoming dogs, in a country bursting at the seams. The sheer numbers of dogs in shelters, fosters, kennels, charities and pts are as a consequence of puppy farms, greyhound racing industry, some irresponsible owners, greed, housing crisis, landlord issues and fallout from demand spiking during covid.

Needless to say the funds are especially needed to give as many dogs as possible a chance at a good life. Thanks again one and all!

88.5km

Monday 25th Nov
Quick update, managed to get a quick 3.5km this morning between the showers. That brings the total up to 88.5km and just over 10 kilometers to go for the challenge. Sèamus is now sound asleep after the 10km yesterday too!

Less than a week to go

Sunday 24th Nov
82km done now that the weather has improved hoping to get there by Saturday evening. Thanks again to all who donated, we won't let ye down!

Moving the Dial

Tuesday 19th Nov
Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far! Having already smashed the 99euro target (for which Sèamus now proudly dobs his fundraising bandana) we pushed on with a further 3km Sunday evening and a long 7km along a levee today hoping to smash our 99km target and keep going too!

57km milestone

Sunday 17th Nov
Okay not exactly a milestone but it's where we are at as of the 17th November just having done 3km out and 3km back along a levee by O briens bridge. Some serious zoomies by seamus he probably clocked up closer to 10km tbh

Got to 25km

Monday 11th Nov
In the 1st 6 days of the challenge we got 25km completed
Our next walk tonight will be 2km
