I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!
I'll be taking on a challenge of walking 99 kilometres in a month to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies. Every euro raised gives the gift of a second chance to our furry friends in Dogs Trust Ireland's care - thank you for your support!
The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.

Wednesday 24th Jun We took long earned break on Monday. Rudy had went for a walk earlier that morning. We spent the evening in the garden doing obedience training, and then he chilled in his crate with a frozen kong toy! Share

Day 4 - 3.88 km
Thursday 18th Jun Another great walk, however we came across 2 dogs that we're off the lead and left to their own devices. They charged us and I picked up Rudy. I new as I picked him up that I shouldn't have. I will have to read up on how to manage situations like this. However, besides this encounter it was a great walk. Share
Day 3 - 4 km
Wednesday 17th Jun Another fantastic Walk, 4km! Working on reactivity towards other dogs, and trying to teach that we don't have to play with every dog we see 😂 We moved at a slower pace, and Rudy's loose lead walking is getting so much better! We ended our walk on a high playing fetch, which has improved quickly! As we we're in an empty, secure, and safe park I decided to work on Rudy's recall. I let go of the lead and drunk walked. He followed by my side, responded very well to his name being called, and came when called. I am one proud human companion! Share
Day 2 - 6.26 km
Tuesday 16th Jun A great day 2! Every walk is a chance to for us both to improve. Lots of loose lead walking and check-in for guidence. We ended the walk on high with some fetch to practice our recall. Share
Day 1 - 3km
Monday 15th Jun Day 1 was a great start with my canine companion Rudy. We completed our first 3 km, and ended our session with some long lead recall training in the park. Now for a well deserved rest! Share
