I’m taking part in the 99K For Canines with Dogs Trust Ireland!

I'll be taking on a challenge of walking 99 kilometres in a month to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies. Every euro raised gives the gift of a second chance to our furry friends in Dogs Trust Ireland's care - thank you for your support!

The aim of Dogs Trust Ireland is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. Since opening their Rehoming Centre in 2009, they have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. They rely on public support to fund their work and they are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into their care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from their canine carers and a forever home.

Lily's Legacy: 99k for Canine's Challenge

Friday 21st Feb
In April 2023, we said goodbye to our beloved Lily, our cherished pet and family member, at the age of 15. Losing her was truly heartbreaking, and we know we will never fully get over the love and impact she brought into our lives.

Lily was a miniature Jack Russell Terrier with a personality far bigger than her tiny body. If she could've spoken, she would've—she was incredibly aware of everything happening around her, full of love and energy, with an innocent spirit. She was playful, funny, and fearless, often barking at dogs five times her size. She adored walks, running on the beach, playing football, "helping" to cut the grass, travelling and napping in the car, and sleeping in either her oversized dog bed or her human’s bed. When she left us, she left a massive hole in our hearts. We loved her dearly and still talk about her all the time. She lived a wonderful life, surrounded by love from those who adored her and we are indebted to the memories she left with us to cherish forever.

Sadly, not all dogs are as lucky as Lily was. Many never get the chance to grow old in a loving home, spending their retirement years with a devoted family. In Ireland today, cruelty, overcrowding, overbreeding, and puppy farms have become overwhelming issues. Pounds, rescues, and charities are struggling with minimal resources, desperately trying to save as many dogs as they can from being put to sleep, while tirelessly promoting the ones in their care who need forever homes.

This crisis deeply upsets me, and while I try not to think about it too much, I know I want to help. So, in Lily’s honour, I’ve decided to take part in the 99k for Canines Challenge this March in support of Dogs Trust. My goal is to walk 99km and help towards raising €99,000 for abandoned dogs and puppies across Ireland.

If you can, please consider donating to this incredible cause. Your support will help bring us closer to a future where every dog gets the chance to live a full and happy life.

Thank you! 💛🐾
